
CBRL is pleased to announce the call for submissions to our undergraduate and master’s final-year dissertation prizes in:
- Levantine archaeology or history: the CBRL prizes for a final-year undergraduate and master’s dissertation, or major research paper
- Contemporary Levantine studies: the CBRL prizes for a final-year undergraduate and master’s dissertation, or major research paper
We invite academic staff to nominate a final year undergraduate dissertation and / or final year Master’s dissertation in the above subject areas.
The dissertations nominated can have been examined in 2024 or 2025.
The dissertation should be the best in the subject area (with a distinction quality), should make an original contribution to research debates, should be written in English (to facilitate CBRL assessment), and be of excellent quality.
Prize
In addition to featuring on CBRL’s website and in our popular monthly newsletter, the winners of both categories will receive a year’s ‘CBRL Friend’ subscription, which includes access to our journals online and hard copies of one of our journals for the year.
Nomination procedure
DEADLINE 30th November 2025: academic staff members (expected to be a supervisor / examiner) should submit the nominations using the nomination form and including a PDF of the selected dissertations; the student should be informed that their dissertation has been nominated for the prize; student contact details should be given on the form.
February 2026: students and departments to be informed of successful outcomes.
