The Council for British Research in the Levant (CBRL) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for a specialised training programme on Architectural and Urban Heritage Documentation and Protection. The programme is designed to equip recent architecture graduates with the knowledge and practical skills required to contribute effectively to the conservation and management of architectural and urban heritage across the region.
The programme will take place from 6-17 September 2026, primarily in Amman, Jordan. Through a combination of specialist lectures, hands-on practical training, and field visits, participants will explore the significance of architectural documentation as a foundation for identifying heritage assets, supporting their protection, and informing their long-term conservation and management. The training will introduce participants to a comprehensive documentation methodology, beginning with desk-based historical research and archival investigation, progressing through traditional field surveying and measured recording, and culminating in data organisation, documentation reporting, and heritage value assessment.
This programme builds on the success of CBRL’s 2024–2025 training initiative, which brought together twenty architects and heritage professionals from Jordan, Palestine, and Syria. Participants gained practical experience in architectural documentation methods and subsequently received advanced training in Training of Trainers (ToT), as well as the fundamentals of developing and securing funding for heritage-related projects, further strengthening their professional capacity and expanding the programme’s regional impact.
As part of the programme requirements, all participants will be expected to prepare and submit a documentation report within three months of completing the training. The report should demonstrate their ability to undertake desk-based research, carry out field documentation, manage documentation data, assess the heritage significance of buildings, and produce professional documentation reports in accordance with the methodologies introduced during the programme.
Applications are open to architects from Jordan, Palestine, and Syria who hold a bachelor’s degree in architecture and have graduated within the past five years. Previous participants are not eligible to apply.
Interested applicants should complete the application form no later than 30 July 2026.
Applicants from Palestine and Syria must be able to travel to Jordan and participate in the programme in person for its full duration. CBRL will cover accommodation and travel expenses for successful participants from these two countries. Participation remains subject to prevailing security conditions at the time of the programme.
Selected applicants will be notified by CBRL following the completion of the review and selection process.
إعلان فتح باب التقديم لبرنامج تدريبي متخصص في توثيق وحماية التراث 2026
يسرّ مجلس الأبحاث البريطانية في بلاد الشام (CBRL) الإعلان عن فتح باب التقديم للمشاركة في برنامج تدريبي متخصص في توثيق وحماية التراث المعماري والحضري، يهدف إلى تأهيل المهندسين المعماريين حديثي التخرج وتزويدهم بالمعارف والمهارات التطبيقية اللازمة للمساهمة في مشاريع الإدارة والحفاظ على التراث العمراني والمعماري في المنطقة
يُعقد البرنامج خلال الفترة من 6 إلى 17 أيلول/سبتمبر 2026، بشكل رئيسي في مدينة عمّان، ويتناول أهمية التوثيق المعماري ودوره في التعرف إلى المباني ذات القيمة التراثية، ودعم جهود حمايتها وإدارتها وصونها، من خلال محاضرات متخصصة، وتدريبات عملية، وجولات ميدانية، تتيح للمشاركين التعرف إلى منهجية متكاملة لتوثيق المباني التراثية، بدءاً بالبحث المكتبي وجمع المعلومات التاريخية، مرورًا بأعمال الرفع والمسح الميداني التقليدي، وصولًا إلى تنظيم البيانات وإعداد تقارير التوثيق والتقييم التراثي
ويأتي هذا البرنامج امتدادًا للنجاح الذي حققه البرنامج التدريبي الذي نظمه المجلس خلال عامي 2024–2025، والذي استفاد منه عشرون مهندسًا معماريًا ومهنيًا في مجال التراث من الأردن وفلسطين وسوريا. وقد اكتسب المشاركون مهارات عملية في أساليب التوثيق المعماري، لحقها تدريب متقدم في مجال تدريب المدربين وأساسيات تطوير وتمويل المشاريع المتعلقة بإعادة توظيف واستثمار المباني التراثية، مما أسهم في تعزيز قدراتهم المهنية وتوسيع أثر البرنامج في مجال حماية التراث
وفي إطار متطلبات البرنامج، سيُطلب من جميع المشاركين إعداد وتقديم تقرير توثيق خلال مدة لا تتجاوز ثلاثة أشهر من انتهاء التدريب، يبرهن على قدرتهم على تنفيذ البحث المكتبي، وإجراء أعمال التوثيق الميداني، وإدارة بيانات التوثيق، وتحديد القيم للمباني التراثية، وإعداد تقارير التوثيق وفق المنهجية المعتمدة
إذا كنت مهندسًا معماريًا من الأردن أو فلسطين أو سوريا، وحاصلًا على درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المعمارية، وتخرجت خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية، فهذه فرصة مميزة لتطوير مهاراتك في توثيق وحماية التراث العمراني والمعماري. لا يحق للمشاركين السابقين في البرنامج التقدم مرة أخرى
على الراغبين في التقديم تعبئة النموذج قبل موعد أقصاه 30 تموز/ يوليو 2026
يشترط على المتقدمين من فلسطين وسوريا القدرة على السفر إلى الأردن والمشاركة الحضورية طوال مدة البرنامج. سيتولى المجلس تغطية تكاليف السفر والإقامة للمشاركين المقبولين من هذين البلدين، وذلك رهناً بالأوضاع الأمنية وإمكانية السفر في حينه
