Call for papers: 2022 Best Article Prizes, Levant

For 2022, CBRL’s international peer-reviewed journal Levant is pleased to announce the launch of two annual CBRL prizes for Best Article and Best Article from an early career scholar.

The awards will recognise excellent research and scholarship on the archaeology and history of the Levant region, its diasporas and neighbouring countries (prehistory – Ottoman). For the aims and scope of the journal, please see here. For articles not intended as competition entries, a rolling submissions system is in place throughout the year.

A committee from CBRL and the editorial board of Levant will select the best articles from submissions. The winning articles will be published in the Summer 2022 issue of the journal and will be free to access for one year. The prize winners will receive a one year membership to CBRL including online access to Levant for one year.

This is an open call; the editorial board are looking for original, unpublished articles. The best paper prize welcomes submissions from established scholars, while the early career best paper prize, is for postgraduate scholars and those who have received their PhD within the past five years. Papers from a range of disciplines will be welcome: anthropology, archaeology, environmental science, heritage studies and industrial archaeology.

Articles should be between 8,000 and 10,000 words, and should be submitted as an electronic version to Caroline Middleton: [email protected]

Deadline for submission is 28th February 2022.
