Avoiding Mistakes in Research Grant Applications

About the speaker
Prof. Al Nahar is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Jordan, specialising in Prehistory. She received her PhD in Anthropology from Arizona State University in 2000, and her BA and MA from Yarmouk University in Jordan. She joined the University of Jordan in 2000 as a faculty member in the Department of Archaeology and was promoted to full Professor in 2016.
Throughout her academic career, Prof. Al Nahar has held several leadership positions at the University of Jordan. She served as Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology and Tourism from 2013 to 2017, and has twice held the position of Head of the Department of Archaeology, as well as Assistant Dean. She also served as Director and later Assistant Dean for Museum Affairs at the University of Jordan Archaeological and Heritage Museums (2004–2009).
Prof. Al Nahar has participated in and directed numerous archaeological excavations across Jordan. She served as Editor-in-Chief of the Jordanian Journal of History and Archaeology from 2019 to 2025, during which time she oversaw its indexing in Scopus. She has authored more than 50 scientific publications.
Her professional engagement includes participation in a wide range of conferences and workshops, including the “Building the Capacity of Jordanian Researchers” project (2010–2012), organised by the Higher Council for Science and Technology (HCST). In 2010, she was appointed by HCST as a trainer, delivering courses on grant proposal writing for university faculty members.
She currently serves as Head of the Prehistory Committee within the Jordanian Narrative Project, supervised by the Jordanian Ministry of Culture.
