As part of CBRL’s ongoing commitment to building local partnerships and interdisciplinary research, the CBRL Amman Institute was delighted to welcome two distinguished institutions to its premises this month: the National Center for Research and Development (NCRD) and the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies (RIIFS).

RIIFS visit to the CBRL Library

The Amman team was honoured to host Dr Renée Hattar, Director of RIIFS, along with her team. The visit focused on planning the next phase of the International Writing Workshops project (2025–2027), funded by the British Academy, a CBRL-led initiative aimed at supporting early-career researchers in Jordan, where RIIFS is a co-partner. RIIFS, known for its pioneering research in interfaith dialogue, brings significant intellectual and institutional value to the writing programme. The RIIFS team toured CBRL’s library and archival collections and discussed further possibilities for future collaboration.

NCRD visit to CBRL’s Research Hub

Prof. Mohammad Wedyan, Director of NCRD, and his team, engaged in discussions with the CBRL Amman team focused on exploring shared research interests, particularly around Jordan’s Badia region, to support national research and innovation priorities. NCRD’s expertise in environmental and development research aligns closely with CBRL’s growing focus on its Colonial Industrial Heritage Project in As-Safawi, H5 Station. The visit also included a tour of CBRL’s facilities, library, and Research Hub, and discussions for potential collaborative work in heritage documentation and climate-linked research.

RIIFS visit to CBRL’s archives

CBRL is committed to broadening its partnerships in Jordan, and we look forward to working closely with NCRD and RIIFS in the months ahead to turn these discussions into meaningful, long-term collaborations.
